OTTAWA, December 20th, 2022. Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC) is proud to announce that the nominations for the 2023 CMC Awards are now open. Each year, CMC honours individuals and organizations working in the Canadian co-operative and mutual sector to recognize their outstanding contribution to the sector. For 2023, CMC is proud to announce it has created 2 brand new awards to reflect ongoing shifts within the sector, highlighting its commitment to JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) and environmental priorities. Moreover, it has also made changes to some existing Awards to be more encompassing, showcasing the co-operative and mutual talent found from coast to coast to coast.

“These yearly awards are an incredible way to demonstrate and honour the immense work that our co-operative and mutual sector has accomplished. We have an extremely dedicated and passionate group—and it’s important to highlight them and support them in their work,” explains Hugues Bourgeois, Executive Director of CMC.

This year, the awards are as follows:

  • Large Co-operative of the Year Award (awarded to an organization)
  • Small Co-operative of the Year Award (awarded to an organization)
  • Environmental Initiative of the Year Award (awarded to an organization)
  • JEDI Initiative of the Year Award (awarded to an organization)
