Jason Rivest holds a bachelor’s degrees in history and administration, as well as an MBA. He has been working in co-operative and mutualist circles for more than 10 years. He began his career in agricultural cooperatives before becoming involved as an administrator on the board of directors of a university bookstore and a Caisse Desjardins where he held several positions of responsibility.
He also participated in the creation of a co-operative specializing in historical service and he worked for several years at the Conseil québécois de la coopération et de la mutualité. He currently holds the position of Member Engagement Analyst with Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada. He has been awarded several prestigious awards in the co-operative world and beyond for his exceptional involvement. In particular the award of the emerging administrator of the year of the Regroupement des jeunes chambres de commerce du Québec, the Majella-St-Pierre award of the Conseil Québécois de la cooperation et de la mutualité, the Emerging Co-operative award of Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada in addition to receiving the Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal.
For his leadership, he was also selected by the Secrétariat à la jeunesse of the Government of Quebec to carry out the University Certification Program in Corporate Governance at Laval University (equivalent of Chartered Directors (C.Dir.)) as part of the government’s Youth Strategy.
