“We are very pleased that, through Budget 2022, the Government recognized the crucial role that co-operatives can play in addressing the housing crisis in Canada,” explains Hugues Bourgeois, Executive Director. “We congratulate the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada and its allies for their advocacy and awareness efforts. They provide a solution that directly impacts the affordability of homes and the strength of communities.”
Although CMC recognizes the potential impact of certain measures, work still needs to be done to continue to advocate for the co-operative sector in Canada. In collaboration with its national membership and stakeholders, CMC will continue to promote a more co-operative economy. This includes continued awareness efforts and advocating for the removal of obstacles to accessing the business infrastructure of government.
