The International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) announced three speakers for the world conference taking place from 10 to 13 November in Antalya, Turkey.

World famous author Raj Patel is the keynote speaker, professor Yochai Benkler and President and CEO of co-operators Kathy Bardswick are also featured.

Ms. Bardswick will give a presentation on the ICA survey concerning capital. The survey explores ways of reconciling the co-operative principles and accessing capital in a global financial market.

As a writer, Mr. Patel discusses issues such as the causes of hunger, famine and inequality. His recent book, The Value of Nothing encourages people to put more emphasis on critical resources. His focus is on the economic meltdown of 2008 and the path to achieving a more just and sustainable economy and society .

Mr. Benkler is Professor of business at the Harvard Law School legal studies and Co-Director of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University. He will discuss the importance of sharing resources and of human co-operation.
