CMC is proud to welcome Me-Dian Credit Union and the Fédération de l’habitation coopérative du Québec as regular members.
As an indigenous-focused financial co-operative, Me-Dian Credit Union embraces both the seven co-operative principles and the seven sacred teachings of the indigenous peoples as their guiding principles. Their mission is to provide financial products and services to the underserved First Nations, Metis, and Inuit communities in Manitoba, and to contribute to the financial strength to these communities through partnership, education, and social responsibility. Me-Dian Credit Union values the importance of financial literacy and understands how bridging the financial literacy gap will support the success of underserved communities.
Me-Dian Credit Union looks forward to collaborating with fellow CMC members on leveraging the products, services, and tools they have developed to meet the needs of the wider co-operative sector.
The Fédération de l’habitation coopérative du Québec began as a regional federation for the Montreal region, called FECHIMM. In 2020, after several expansions into other cities, and with the support of the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie, the FECHIMM became the Fédération de l’habitation coopérative du Québec (FHCQ). Today, the FHCQ is present in Montreal and in Laval and the regions of Laurentides, Lanaudière, Montérégie, the Eastern Townships, Outaouais and Abitibi-Témiscamingue. It is the largest co-operative housing federation in Quebec, representing nearly 50% of units, or some 13,000 residences.
Through its membership with CMC, FHCQ is looking forward to working with sector counterparts on the development of concerted actions that will tackle the many social, economic, and environmental challenges facing our communities.
Please help us welcome Me-Dian Credit Union and the Fédération de l’habitation coopérative du Québec to the CMC family!
