François Hastir

François Hastir began his active involvement in the co-operative movement in 2010. He was Vice-President, then President of the F.Q.C.M.S. (COOPSCO) and spokesperson, co-organizer and co-host with Monique F. Leroux at the first Co-operative and Mutualist Engagement Job Fair in Montreal in 2015.

Passionate of the cooperative and mutualist environment, François has been actively involved in several Boards of Directors. He was Treasurer of theFondation pour l’éducation à la coopération et à la mutualité”, Representative of the regional committee of Quebec within the Co-operators Group Limited Resolutions Committee, Member of the Concertation Table for mutual and co-operative development of Montreal-Laval and of the Supervisory Board for the “Caisse populaire Desjardins Centre-est de la métropole”. In addition, he was active in the Youth Forum of Montreal Island and in the "Youth" Advisory Committee of the Commission of Labour Market Partners and with the Fides Publishing House Board.

François has also been the recipient of several awards, including the Entrepreneurship Awareness Award (LOJIQ, 2012), the Co-operative Engagement Award (COOPSCO, 2013) Emerging Co-operator Award (CMC, 2015).

François Hastir holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Political Science. After Having served as Regional Manager for Northern Ontario and Members’ Support and Strategic Relations Administrator at the “Conseil de la coopération de l’Ontario”, he now is Executive Director of the Association des francophones du Nord-Ouest de l’Ontario. He is also President of the Canada’s Emerging Co-operators and Director at the Sudbury Workers’ Education and Advocacy Centre (SWEAC). M. Hastir is also on the Board of the Sudbury’s Funeral Co-operative and on the Board of the coopérative du regroupement des organismes francophones de Thunder Bay Inc.
