Tim Ross is a community builder, and advocate for inclusion. He moved to Ottawa in May 2016 to join the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada. As Director, Strategic Affairs, he leads a talented team of co-operators focused on government relations, stakeholder relations, membership engagement, and the organization’s annual business meeting. In a short period of time, Tim has developed extensive relationships with elected and non-elected officials in federal, provincial and municipal governments.

Prior to moving to Ottawa, Tim worked in New Brunswick as a leading voice on affordable housing and homelessness issues. As the Executive Director of the New Brunswick Non-Profit Housing Association, he worked at regional and national levels as a leading voice in the “housing for all” campaign in support of non-profit and cooperative housing.

Tim gained valuable governance experience on numerous regional and national boards where he served in director and executive positions at the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association, the Nashwaak Watershed Association, and Greater Fredericton Social Innovation. Tim believes that co-operative enterprise builds a better world. With so many people feeling disengaged and disadvantaged by current economic and political forces, cooperatives offer a practical and democratic business structure where people can self-organize in order to meet their needs and pursue their aspirations.
