[Winnipeg, MB] The Board of Directors of Arctic Co-operatives Limited and Arctic Co-operative Development Fund, announces today that Arctic Co-operatives Limited has been selected as one of Manitoba's Top 25 Employers for 2017.

The annual competition, organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, recognizes 25 leading Manitoba companies for their efforts to create exceptional workplaces. Employers are evaluated using eight criteria: physical workspace; health, financial & family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

Arctic Co-ops was formed in 1981, with the amalgamation of Canadian Arctic Producers Co-operative Limited and the Canadian Arctic Co-operative Federation Limited. Annual profits are returned to the 32 community owned member co-operatives it supports. Arctic Co-ops provides many services to member owners, including consolidated buying power, financial, human resource, construction, technical, art marketing and management support.

Arctic Co-ops has created an environment of empowerment where employees are listened to, ideas are welcomed and feedback is encouraged.  Employees helped develop Nunavut's first aluminum can recycling program demonstrating the seventh Co-op principle of concern for community.

Arctic Co-ops employs approximately 100 people in Winnipeg and another 100 people within the Iqaluit subsidiaries and Art Marketing operations at Canadian Arctic Producers in Mississauga, Ont., and Northern Images in Yellowknife, NWT.
