Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC) <\/strong>is the national member-driven association for Canadian co-operatives and mutuals. We represent all sizes and types of co-operatives and mutuals from all sectors. We unite, engage, and lead the co-operative and mutualist movement by building bridges, breaking barriers, and advancing its priorities nationally through government advocacy and public promotion, as well as internationally through the International Cooperative Alliance<\/a> and the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA)\u00a0unites, represents and serves<\/strong>\u00a0co-operatives worldwide. The ICA is the guardian of the\u00a0Statement on the Cooperative Identity<\/a>, which includes a definition, 10 values and 7 operational principles: it is the minimum common denominator for all cooperatives in all sectors and all regions. It is the apex body representing cooperatives, which are estimated to be around 3\u00a0million worldwide, providing a global voice and forum for knowledge, expertise and co-ordinated action for and about cooperatives.<\/p>\n

Cooperatives of the Americas (formerly ICA-Americas) is the regional representation of the Alliance for the American continent.\u00a0Its primary objective is \u201cto promote the repositioning of the cooperative model in the new economic, political, social and commercial environment, supporting the member organizations of the Alliance in the Americas in the dissemination and defense of the cooperative identity, the promotion of business and the human resource development\u201d.<\/p>\n

Our Members via our membership with the Cooperatives of the Americas can access knowledge and expertise from all across the continent.\u00a0<\/p>\n
