CMC was happy to attend the\u00a0Sustainable Finance Forum<\/a> on November 28 and 29, 2024! The Sustainable Finance Forum 2024 is a non-partisan event with Presenting Partners the\u00a0Canadian CED Network<\/a>, the\u00a0Institute for Sustainable Finance<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Table of Impact Investment Practitioners.<\/a> CMC joined\u00a0industry and community leaders, elected officials and policy makers to advance the vital and powerful role finance can play to grow a sustainable and inclusive economy.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CMC was proud to be part of the advisory committee, providing insights and recommendations on the themes, subjects and speakers. The event hosted 700 attendees, all reunited to address the challenges and opportunities of social finance and sustainable future. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Forum featured several prominent figures from the Canadian government, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who reaffirmed Canada\u2019s commitment to sustainability and economic inclusivity; Fran\u00e7ois-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry, who discussed the vital role of innovation in green industries; Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, who emphasized strategies for a cleaner energy future; Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, who outlined Canada\u2019s climate goals; and Jenna Sudds, Minister of Families, Children, and Social Development, alongside Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Minister for Economic Development (Quebec regions), both championing community-focused sustainability.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Forum also featured the insights of Mark Carney, from the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), a global coalition of leading financial institutions committed to accelerating the decarbonization of the economy. Carney, who served as Governor of the Bank of Canada from 2008 to 2013 and Governor of the Bank of England from 2013 onward, is particularly known for advocating the integration of climate change considerations into financial regulation and corporate responsibility. At the Forum, he urged us to close the gap between what we value as human beings and what we value on the global market.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Victoria Furth of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership also delivered an inspiring keynote address. Dr. Furth works globally to help companies transition to become drivers of long-term well-being for all (sustainability). She advises executives across sectors on the intersection of purpose, sustainability, ESG, and reporting, guiding them in leading transformative change.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On November 28, CMC attended a private reception hosted by MP Ryan Turnbull, Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry. The event was for speakers, sponsors, Advisory Committee members and Parliamentarians involved in the Sustainable Finance Forum.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On November 29, CMC facilitated a <\/strong>networking and catch-up opportunity for stakeholders involved in the Investment Readiness Program (IRP)<\/a>, as part of the Sustainable Finance Forum. This included, former Readiness Support Partners (Funders), Ecosystem Builders, expert-service providers, public servants and recipients, as well as other interested parties.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
