There is no denying it—during these past few months, CMC has undergone countless changes. New faces, new projects, new directions, and new ideas. This lively breathe of fresh air and continuous transformation was not just a welcomed on at CMC, but also one that was greatly needed. I am proud to say that, in the last year or so, CMC has grown to into a strong, hardworking, progressive, and innovative organization.

In a year, we grew our team—we hired the missing pieces of the puzzles, providing us with the skills and leadership we needed to properly advocate for the co-operative and mutual sector and support our members where we could. With this collaborative team, we put together a great and well-executed Congress out in Calgary. This was the first in-person congress (and let’s face it, first in-person event for many of us) since the pandemic, and I am proud I could not have asked for a better outcome. The team at CMC worked tirelessly to bring you exciting programming, excellent networking opportunities, and the platform to discuss the future of co-operatives and mutuals in Canada.

Be on the lookout our next big team effort—the upcoming Co-op Week, held October 16 to 21. You can look forward to educational webinars, virtual peer gathering events, and a fun social media contest. We look forward to celebrating this week with you and we hope to see you all participate in the multitude of initiatives we have organized.

Once Co-op Week is wrapped up, what is next for us? Well, we will continue to work hard and strengthen CMC. Behind the scenes, we have been hard at work in creating tangible goals, work plans, and exciting initiatives for the sector all while improving services for our members. I cannot wait for you to see what we have come up for the new year.

On that note, I leave you to read the newest edition of our monthly newsletter. Take a minute to read about all the great work the team at CMC has done and together, let’s celebrate the growth of the co-operative and mutual sector in Canada.
