February is the shortest month of the year, but sometimes it can feel like the longest. Winter carries on for what seems like forever and yet, the promise of spring is just around the corner. A good deal can happen in even the shortest month of the year – a reality we have seen here at CMC. This month, our team has been out and about celebrating everything co-operative and mutual, meeting with members, all while continuing to plan our upcoming Congress in Ottawa.
From the 15th anniversary of Réseau Coop, Sollio’s 101 AGM, to joining the Conseil québécois de la coopération et de la mutualité in their Semaine de la relève cooperative activities in Outaouais, it has been a very eventful month for our team. We have also been promoting three wonderful scholarships created in collaboration with Canadian Association for Studies in Co-operation. The deadline for these scholarships is March 31, 2023 – you can find more information on the scholarships as well as the application forms on our website.
CMC is also happy to announce that Canada’s Emerging Co-operators (CEC) is actively recruiting members to join its energetic team. This committee rallies young co-operators, between the ages of 18–35, and advises CMC’s Board of Directors from the point of view of young Canadian co-operative leaders. The deadline to apply is April 7, 2023, and CMC encourages everyone who is interested to visit our website for more information.
Lastly, as spring will be here in the blink of an eye, our team has been hard at work getting the 2023 Congress up and running for you. CMC is looking into discussion topics for Congress, and we want to hear from you on anything you would like to see, speakers you would like to recommend and so on. Please contact disinger@canada.coop or jhausen@canada.coop with your ideas and suggestions.
On that note, I leave you to read the remainder of the newsletter. As always, I am proud of the work our team has done throughout the month and I am honoured to share their achievements with all of you.
